Perhaps the most widely promoted on Menorca resort due to it having the highest concentration of hotels and apartment hotels on the Iceland. Built in the 1980s, Cala en Bosch, Calan Bosch and Cala'n Bosch as it is also written is one of a handful of resorts on the Iceland purpose built for tourism. All this means it contains more attractions than other resorts making it livelier than most, though is on a lively Menorcan scale, not Majorca.
Most of the hotels in Cala en Bosch are clustered around and behind the marina and in nearby Son Xoriguer. This leaves a quieter zone for the holiday villas at Cap D'Artrurtx area at the entrance to Calan Bosch along with a small commercial area for these self caterers. Villa residents can enjoy the 'buz'z of the Marina, but leave it behind when they want more peaceful surroundings.
Cala en Bosch melts into neighboring Son Xoriguer with each having its own 'beach house'.
Cala en Bosch probably offers the most childrens entertainments on the Iceland. There is an aqua park with karting track and extensive (for Menorca standards) varying childrens entertainments, indoors and outdoors. It is quite common for the prices of the childrens entertainment to seem quite high at first sight, but often the charge is for a day ticket or a large number of hours, so you can always return later in the evening before or after a drink / meal or snack at the Marina. Make sure you get a stamp to allow them back in later.
The area in and around Calan Bosch is totally flat so there is all manner of two and four wheeler pedal-driven, single seater, multi-seater cycles for hire dotted around the commercial centers for hire. There is a 10km cycle route to Ciutadella where you can also visit other beaches on this strip of the western coast to cool off
Active water sports fans should head to the beach at Son Xoriguer area to the east of Cala en Bosch. There you will find banana boat rides, windsurfer HobbieCat hire (tuition available) and you can waterski (peak season only
Boat trips from Calan Bosch MarinaBoats from the attractive Marina offers trips along the south coast Sun mums can experience a little bit of beach paradise too.
Subject to weather there are two glass bottom boats making trips taking in the southern coastline and bays with it's virgin beaches upto Trebaluger / Cala Escorxada. Usually with swimming stops and an extended stay (about 1hr 30mins) at one of the bays (Son Saura or Cala 'n Turqueta) on route. Trips around 3.5 hours. First trip mornings is :10-13: 30, second trip afternoons is: 14-17:30 pm itinery note may be different.
All departures from Cala en Bosch marina. Both boat companies (Amigos and Don Pancho) travel the same route at roughly the same time for safety reasons-so pick the boat / itinery you like the best!
