Travel Destinations in Azerbaijan

After Azerbaijan gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and the oil explosion that once occurred in the country, the region is very rapidly growing as a major tourist center. Each city in the country has its own history, which focuses on the ancient history of the region. And also, new construction projects along with technological enhancement together to provide a wonderful blend of contemporary service & entertainment and classical culture and history of Azerbaijan.

The Palace of Shirvanshahs

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs, located in the city of Baku, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 15th century by the Shirvanshah dynasty. This monument is the largest piece of architecture under the Shirvan-Absheron branch and includes the main building, Diwan Khana, The Mausoleum, The Palace Mosque and The Palace Bath-house. The construction of the palace began under the reign of Ibrahim I of the Shirvan dynasty. The palace is open for visitors from 10 am to 5 pm local time.

Maiden Tower

The Maiden Tower is one of the most dominant architectural parts, due to the obvious design and the stories that surround it. It is said to be built in the 12th century originally on the shore of the Caspian Sea (later due to land reclamation, the tower is no closer to the Caspian Sea); it was supposed to serve as a watch tower. But the construction and architecture, showing the needle to almost 2,500 years ago. This is an important part of Azerbaijan's history given the features on the currency records of the state and other documents.

Atashgah Fire Temple

The Atashgah Temple of Fire or the Raw Fire Temple is located in Surakhani near the city of Baku. This castle-style temple was nominated for World Heritage Site status in 1998 and declared a historical-architectural preserve with the Presidential Decree of the Azeri in 2007 Inscription either Sanskrit or Punjabi state that the place is a Hindu worship place, unlike a claim that suggests it is Fire Temple Zoroastrian. Now, this place is a museum and is no longer used as a temple for worship activities.

Yanar of Dag

Yanar Dag, translated as "burning mountain" is a hill near the city of Baku that continues to emit flames throughout the year, a process that has lasted for about 1000 years. Natural gas vents on the sides of the mountain ensure that the fire is not extinguished even though it rains.

Oil Rocks

Azerbaijan is making progress in the economy because of its oil reserves. So the oil complex near Baku has become an attraction for many people. But it must first permit from Azerbaijan State Oil Company to be able to enter to see this complex.
